Brunswick Branch Library
Gary, Indiana
Client: Gary Public Library
Cost: $1,125,000
Gary, Indiana hadn’t had a new library constructed in over 20 years and was interested in creating a new library that would fully integrate modern technology and computer usage within a traditional library setting. The 8,600 sf library was developed with the Gary Library staff and was designed to be aesthetically pleasing, energy and cost effective.
The libraries site design included site and parking design; site grading, plant selection and planting design. The plantings focus on native species of shade trees, ornamental trees, evergreen trees, and prairie species, providing seasonal interest and beauty. Major emphasis in the plan is on ease of maintenance and ecological sustainability. To this end native plants were used to minimize mowing and watering.
